Custom Business Dashboards
What should a business dashboard show first?
A good dashboard does not show every number. It shows the numbers that help you decide what to do next.
Dashboards should be built around decisions
Many dashboards become attractive reports that nobody uses. The problem is not the design; it is that the data is not connected to a real decision.
For a business owner, the first screen should answer practical questions: are leads coming in, is revenue moving, what needs attention, and what is at risk?
Less can be more useful
A focused dashboard makes patterns visible. Too many charts create noise and force the user to analyse before they can act.
The best dashboards often start with a few reliable metrics and expand only when the business has a clear reason.
Remove metrics that do not change action
If a number does not help you make a decision this week, it should not be on the main dashboard. Put it deeper or leave it out.
A useful owner dashboard can show:
- New leads and lead sources.
- Revenue or expected cashflow.
- Open tasks or delayed work.
- Important changes since last week.
See what needs attention.
Bring your key numbers into one clear owner view.
